Is RLS caused by dopamine deficiencies or vein problems?
According to the Center for Vein Restoration in Maryland, vein problems can be a significant contributor to restless leg symptoms. Chronic venous insufficiency, a condition where the veins in the legs struggle to return blood to the heart, can cause leg swelling, heaviness, and restlessness.
The Cleveland Clinic also states that when vein valves become weakened or damaged, blood pools in the legs, increasing pressure in the veins and causing uncomfortable sensations that can mimic RLS.
