Community guidelines

This is a place for people with these conditions to compare notes and support each other. A few ground rules keep it useful and safe. By posting here you agree to follow them.

Be kind and stay on topic

Treat others the way you would want to be treated on a bad night. No harassment, personal attacks, bigotry, or pile-ons. Disagree with the idea, not the person.

No specific dosing advice between members

Share your own experience freely — what a medication was like for you, what your doctor said, how a change went. But do not tell another member what dose to take, how fast to taper, or how to combine medications. Those decisions depend on the whole person and belong with their doctor. "Here is what happened to me" is welcome; "here is what you should take" is not.

No unproven remedies sold as cures

You are welcome to mention things that helped you, including non-medical ones. Do not promote products, supplements, or treatments as guaranteed cures, and do not use the forum to sell or advertise. There is no cure for restless legs, and posts that claim otherwise will be removed.

Protect privacy

Do not post other people's private information, and think twice before sharing your own medical details more widely than you are comfortable with. What you post in a public group can be read by anyone.

This is not a substitute for medical care

RestlessLimbs is run by people who have these conditions, not by medical professionals. Nothing posted here is medical advice. If you are in crisis or someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

How to report a post

Every discussion and reply has a "Report" link. Use it when a post breaks these guidelines and a moderator will review it. You can add a short note about what to look at. Reports are private — the person you report is not told who flagged them.

What moderators can do

Moderators may edit or remove posts that break these guidelines. Anything that reads as a treatment protocol — a tapering schedule, a dose-equivalence chart — may be removed pending review, even when posted in good faith.
